How We Started
In 1995, a handful of volunteers gathered in a church basement in Central Surrey with one simple goal: To make sure no one in their community felt forgotten.That small act of kindness became Surrey Urban Mission Society. Over the years, our programs have expanded, but our purpose remains the same: to bring hope, compassion, and connection to those who need it most. Every plate served represents care and connection. Our daily meal programs ensure that no one in our community goes hungry — feeding both body and soul while strengthening the bonds that unite us.

Our shelters offer more than a warm bed. They offer stability, safety, and the chance to start over. Each location provides a welcoming environment where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

Our caseworkers provide one-on-one guidance, helping individuals access housing, healthcare, employment, and other vital services that empower them to rebuild their lives.
