How We Started
Surrey Urban Mission began in 1995 in a church basement in the heart of Central Surrey, built on the contributions and volunteer hours of faithful residents. Those early volunteers laid the foundation for the essential service pillars we have established today. Our focus is on connecting Surrey residents with the services they need most. We provide personalized casework to address individual needs, offer shelter support to promote stability, serve meals to those facing hunger, and foster faith to nurture hope and a sense of community. While our programs have developed, these four pillars remain at the core of everything we do.
How We Serve Surrey
Our mission is brought to life through four foundational pillars. Each one enables us to support and uplift members of the community. The work we do every day — from nurturing faith to shelter, meals, and casework, together form a holistic response to meet the needs of our community.
Faith

We nurture hope and foster community through compassionate care

Casework

Our team works one-on-one to connect people with life-changing services and housing.
Shelter

We provide safe, warm, and welcoming spaces for people experiencing homelessness.

Meals

Daily meals offer essential nourishment, dignity, and community. A meal for all
